Far-right anti-government extremists are currently ravaging Venezuela. They are toppling the giant and beautiful statues of Hugo Chávez claiming that the election of the late president’s handpicked successor, Nicolás Maduro was rigged.
The far-right anti-government extremists claim that the actual counting of the votes using racist “mathematics” shows that Edmundo Gonzalez was the actual winner. We can prevent such racist nonsense from occurring in the United States through a nationwide adoption of California’s new math framework, which is focused on achieving equity.
In the event that the far-right anti-government extremists take over Venezuela and try to memory hole the good work of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, we at Cornell must work hard to keep the memories of the Bolivarian Revolution alive by bringing the toppled statues to Cornell and erect them in the Arts Quad.

Let’s keep the memory of Hugo Chávez alive in the People’s Republic of Ithaca and let CU become Chávez University.
