DEI Will Be Saved By Two Righteous Debaters

There has been an burgeoning outcry  against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by the toothless and unwashed, including the Babbling Beaver, the Flickering Beacon, and a few renegade professors. Now we have a chance to crush this opposition forever. The MIT Adam Smith Society and MIT Free Speech Alliance is holding an Oxford Union style debate on the resolution: Should Academic DEI Programs be Abolished? Clearly the correct and virtuous answer is No!

The outcry of the toothless and unwashed is so great that we must go to the debate as the Lord went to Sodom and Gomorrah to show that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion movement is righteous, virtuous, and undeserving of the outcry.

The debate will sweep away the wicked toothless purveyors of hate, but only when we find two people who will debate the horrors of the resolution.

Ninety MIT scholars were asked to debate the horrors of the resolution. These righteous academics included Alana Anderson, assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing; Nandi Bynoe, assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the School of Engineering; Kuheli Dutt, assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the School of Science; Tracie Jones, assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences; Monica Orta, assistant dean for Diversity, Equity, Belonging and student support in the School of Architecture and Planning; Bryan Thomas Jr., assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the MIT Sloan School of Management; Ray Reagans, associate dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the MIT Sloan School of Management; and Beatriz Cantada, director of engagement for Diversity and Inclusion for MIT’s Institute Community & Equity Office.

The question is, if they cannot find two assistant deans to debate, will DEI be swept away like Sodom and Gomorrah, treating the virtuous no better than the wicked?

The Bear believes that if they can find two department chairs to debate, then DEI will be saved.

The Bear believes that if they can find two full professors to debate, then DEI will be saved.

The Bear believes that if they can find any two people to debate, then DEI will be saved.

And, while the hosts of the debate could not find any academics that had the courage and reasoning to defend DEI, they did find Pamela Denise Long, CEO of Youthcentrix Therapy Services, and Karith Foster, founder of INVERSITY Solutions to debate the horrors of the resolution. Long and Foster not only have the courage and reasoning to win the debate, but they also have the added incentive in that the solvency of their companies may depend on the outcome of the debate.

I urge Cornell to sponsor a similar debate, so that we can showcase the courage and reasoning of our virtuous DEI community while still being true to the Anti-Capitalist beliefs.

Parks and Rec watchers will appreciate the difference between Assistant Deans and Assistants to the Dean. The latter win any and all debates while the former are wise not to engage.

Or maybe it was The Office.
