As a rising first year student at Cornell, I learned:
As an educational institution and employer, Cornell University is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment.
Cornell University Precollege Studies embraces this commitment. We will not tolerate any form of bias, harassment, discrimination, or sexual and related misconduct.
I also learned that this Fall Cornell has a program to teach people to become Chief Diversity Officers (CDO) for only $10,950.
I hate to say this, especially about a program that is so lucrative, but isn’t the title Chief Diversity Officer an oxymoron at best or racist at its worst?
Thankfully, I learned that there are places where I can take my concern:
Concerns related to bias, discrimination, harassment, and sexual and related misconduct can be made by submitting an incident report online or contacting the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX at titleix@cornell.edu (for sexual harassment or sexual misconduct) or equity@cornell.edu (for other protected-status harassment, prohibited discrimination, or bias) or 607.255.2242. Send physical mail to 500 Day Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853.
